Submit a Paper:

First, fill out the submission form with information about your paper. Please, fill it out only once for each paper, and do not resubmit it. Contact the address below if you run into any difficulties.

As the designated correspondence author, you will then receive a first e-mail message containing the paper ID. The information in the email will allow you to submit your paper.

If you have some problems send your paper via this e-mail (please report your paper ID in the text of your mail AND the name of the conference).

The conference staff will contact you only if the paper does not print properly or has other problems.

You can change information about your paper, submit brief corrections, view your reviews and create rebuttal, and even edit your personal information by following the link in the initial confirmation email.

Call for Papers:

SEDES is the doctoral consortium of the Portuguese software engineering students, where they can present and discuss their thesis work with faculty and peers and network with other researchers in the field. The first edition of SEDES was part of the 1º Congresso Português de Engenharia de Software, held in Coimbra, in 2004. The second edition was hosted by the 6th International Conference on the Quality of Information and Communications Technology (QUATIC), in Lisbon, in 2007.

The third edition, SEDES 2009, is along with ICSEA 2009.

Submissions in this category are evaluated and accepted following the same procedures used for the regular papers, with the distinction that the reported results might not be final, up-front impressive, neither complete, but showing advancing the state-of-the-art. A submission must be a witness of potential novel and promising results.

It is assumed that a submission shows the intention that at least one author registers for the workshop; ultimately, she/he makes the effort to present it. This is an important benefit of submitting a SEDES contribution, as gathering the audience's observations and critics will definitively consolidate the direction of the work.

SEDES 2009 submissions are peer-evaluated and are published in the conference proceedings. The paper format and editorial recommendations are similar to those for the regular submissions to ICSEA 2009 /see Call for Paper instructions/ and http://www.iaria.org/conferences2009/ICSEA09.html.

The accepted papers are scheduled for oral presentation in the program. The papers as well as the presentations will be in English.

The software-oriented topics to be covered are not restrictive.

ABOUT THE DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM

The goal of this doctoral consortium is to provide software engineering PhD students with an environment in  which they can present and discuss their work, receive feedback and suggestions from faculty and peers, and network with other researchers in the field.

APPLICATION

To apply, students must submit a paper that include the following sections: Title, Keywords [SWEBOK related KAs], Abstract, 1. Introduction, 2. State-of-the-Art, 3. Research Objectives and Approach, 4. Current Work and Preliminary Results, 5. Work Plan and Implications, 6. Conclusions, References. The paper should be co-authored by the PhD student and the supervisor(s). The main supervisor  must be a Faculty member of the University where the PhD student is enrolled in.

REVIEW PROCESS

The participating faculty members will review the submissions, focusing on the quality, maturity and clarity of the thesis description, both in terms of research problem and of research methodology. Accepted candidates are expected to submit a final version of the proposal taking into account the comments and suggestions provided by the reviewers. This paper will be published in the conference proceedings.
