Before I was appointed professor, I served as a (staff) officer in the the Federal Defence Forces of Germany (Bundeswehr). For the last couple of years of my military service, I held the position of a researcher and deputy director of the cryptanalysis division of the Bundeswehr at the High Command for Strategic Reconnaissance.

Current (funded) research activities:

• Developing of a trust model for drones and FANETs
• Securing embedded devices used in critical infrastructures
