Dr. Giovanna Calò
Dr. Giovanna Calò received in 2002 the Master Degree in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Bari, Italy, with a final thesis on the “Design of TiLiNbO3 waveguides with inverted ferroelectric domains”. In 2002, she joined the Department of Electric and Information Engineering, Politecnico di Bari, where she is currently working on scientific research projects. In 2003 she began the Ph.D. course in Electonic Engineering, Curriculum Electromagnetisms, at Politecnico di Bari, Italy receiving the Ph.D degree in 2006 with a dissertation on “Microwave systems for bio-electromagnetic compatibility”.
Since 1/12/2016, she has been Senior Researcher at Politecnico di Bari, Italy, Department of Electric and Information Engineering.
From 2010 to 2014, she was principal investigator for Politecnico di Bari in the project FIRB 2008 “PHOTONICA- Photonic Interconnect Technology for Chip Multiprocessing Architectures”, funded by the Italian ministry MIUR. The project was conducted in cooperation with University of Ferrara and University of Siena.
From 2011 to 2014 she was Junior Researcher at Politecnico di Bari, Italy, Department of Electric and Information Engineering.
In 2016 Giovanna Calò received, in France, the Qualification for University teaching called: “Qualification aux fonctions de Maître de Conférences”, Section 30: “Milieux dilués et optique“ (“Dilute media and optics), Qualification number: N. 16230277119, Date of qualification: 04/02/2016 (4 years validity until 31 December 2020).
On 20/07/2017, she received the Italian National Scientific Qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale per la II Fascia nel Settore Concorsuale 09/F1) (valid until 20/07/2023).
In 2017 and 2019, she was Invited Visiting Researcher at C2N – Centre de Nanosciences et de Nanotechnologies- CNRS – Université Paris-Sud, Paris, France.
Since 2017 she has been acting as Remote Expert for the Research Executive Agency ( REA ) of the European Commission.
Giovanna Calò is author or co-author of more than 90 papers published in high impact international journals and international conference proceeding
