Prof. Dr. Jorge García Vidal
Telecommunications Engineer (UPC, 1988) and PhD (UPC, 1992, Best UPC Telecommunication Thesis Award). Visiting scientist at University of Arizona (1992-93) and at University of California at Berkeley (2008). Since 2003, full professor at the Computer Architecture Department of UPC, where he is head of the Computer Networking Research Group. Current research interests are cooperative networking, ad hoc and sensor networks, software implementation of networking protocols and performance evaluation of computer systems. Currently, he participates in the project EuroFI from the 7th Framework Program and in the Spanish project TSI2007-66869-C02-01. Lectures on Computer Networks in the Computer Science School (FIB) of UPC, and coordinator of the Networking and Operating System specialization of FIB. Member of the editorial board of Ad Hoc Networks journal. During 2009-10 in a sabbatical leave as co-founder and CTO of Miraveo Inc (Award to the best UPC spin-off, 2009).
