Dr. Jorge Pereira
Dr. Jorge Pereira has been with the European Commission since September 1996 in what is now DG Information Society and Media, as Scientific Officer. He became Principal Scientific Officer in 2005.
From 1996 to 2005 he worked in the areas of Mobile and Personal Communications and Broadband for All, where he was responsible for the areas of 3G and 4G, Reconfigurable/Software Defined/Cognitive Radio, Mobile Security and Fixed Wireless Access. From 2005 to 2007 he worked in the area of ICT for Sustainable Growth, with a focus on Energy Efficiency, Environmental Monitoring and Emergency and Disaster Management. In 2007 he moved to the area of Embedded Systems and Control, where he was responsible for the areas of Wireless Sensor Networks and Cooperating Objects and Complex Systems Engineering. Since Sep 2011 he is with the New Infrastructure Paradigms and Experimental Facilities unit where he is in charge of Future Internet Research and Experimentation (FIRE) Testbeds and Large-Scale Deployments. He is also in charge of the Future Internet Forum.
He is a Member of the IEEE and of the ACM. He is Associate Editor for Mobile Radio, including Vehicular Communications, for the IEEE VTS Magazine and has recently taken up the position of Associate Editor of the ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks.
