Dr. Juan-Carlos Bennett

Dr. Bennett is the Lead Cyber Science & Technology (S&T) Researcher for the Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center Pacific. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Delaware.

Dr. Bennett holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a master’s degree in Computer Engineering and a doctoral degree in Computer Science & Engineering. His primary research interest is in cyber security with a focus on cyber forensics. His research interests and area of expertise are also in the fields of Network and Data Security, Voice and Video over Internet Protocol (VVoIP) Networks, Tactical Networks, Computer and Network Forensics and Object-Oriented Design & Patterns. Security in VoIP was a relatively neglected area and his research results have already had a strong impact in this field.

Professionally, Dr. Bennett has served as a Research Scientist, Engineer and Cyber S&T Lead for the U.S Department of Defense (DoD) in the Army Research Laboratory (ARL), the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the Department of Navy respectively.

His achievements and contributions in the fields of network security and forensics have substantially contributed to U.S Department of Defense’s network science mission. Dr. Bennett has been serving as member of scientific program committees, and served as an advisory chair or presenter at several international conferences. He is the sole author of the book “Network Security and Forensic Models Using Patterns” and several book chapters and research papers. In particular, his papers on VoIP security/forensics won several best paper awards at key international conferences.

Finally, Dr. Bennett is the recipient of 2009 Information Technology Distinction Award, Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards (HENAAC) and the U.S. Department of the Army Award for Superior Civilian Achievement.
