Prof. Dr. Rudolf Berrendorf
Dr. Rudolf Berrendorf has a Diploma Degree (M.Sc.) in Computer Science from the Mathematical and Natural Science Faculty of Aachen Technical University, Germany, and a PhD from the Electrical Engineering Faculty of the same university. He worked for 12 years as a scientist at the Juelich Supercomputing Centre of the Research Centre Juelich, Germany, on software development tools for parallel computers, including compilers, run-time systems, and performance analysis tools. During that time, he spent nearly a year as a visiting scientist at the University of Colorado at Boulder and at the Mathematics and Computer Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory.
Since 2000, Dr. Berrendorf is a full professor for programming complex systems at the Computer Science Department of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University in Sankt Augustin, Germany, and head of the Parallel and Distributed Systems Laboratory. His main working areas are programming languages, tools, and algorithms for parallel systems. Since 2004, he is the initiator and leader of the Platform for Scientific Computing at the university, where several professors work together on different aspects of scientific computing. He was a visiting professor at the Nantong University, China.
Dr. Berrendorf has more than 30 years experience in developing and optimizing parallel and performance critical applications. He has published more than 30 papers and gave 11 invited talks. He served as a member of editorial boards, program committes, session chairs, and reviewers for several international conferences and journals.
