Dr. George R. S. Weir

Dr. Weir has published extensively in the areas of Cybercrime, cybersecurity, HCI, digital forensics and corpus linguistics (authoring or co-authoring more than 100 publications) and has developed several software tools for use in textual analysis. He is a member of the BCS Forensics and Cybercrime Specialist Group, the Association of Computing Machinery, the British Computer Society, Senior Member of the IEEE and the Higher Education Academy. He is also a Fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is a member of the International Cybercrime Research Centre, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada; Senior Research Affiliate, Canadian Network for Research on Terrorism, Security & Society; a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and a British Computer Society Certified IT Professional. He is a visiting lecturer on the MSc in Information Security at the School of Computing, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. In January 2018 he was appointed as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Criminology, Simon-Fraser University, Canada. At Strathclyde, he is currently supervising twelve PhD students, working mainly in the area of information security.
