Dr. Victor Mendez
Dr. Víctor Méndez Muñoz was born in Madrid in 1974. He graduated in Computer Engineering at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (Madrid) in 2000. He obtained his PhD in Computer Engineering at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in 2007 with a thesis entitled “Emergent Artificial Intelligence techniques in data replication of Grid architectures”.
Previously to his scientific carrier, he has treasured an IT professional background as project manager, system administrator, developer and network technician for corporations like Telefónica, Compaq Europe and Espacio IT. From 2002 to 2008 he held assistant professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Universidad de Zaragoza, collaborating in R&D with private companies. From 2009 to 2010 he worked in the “Grid and e-Science group” in the institute of particle physics (IFIC), of the Spanish Scientific Research Council (CSIC). In February of 2011 he joined Port d'Informació Científica (PIC) as LHCb contact person of Tier-1 Grid Computing.
Víctor current R&D interest is in Distributed Computing. Particularly, he coordinates the development of the Cloud Computing extension for DIRAC interware. DIRAC cloud extension is the chosen solution for Cloud matters of different scientific applications such as LHCb and Belle or scientific communities like France Federated Cloud.
