IARIA Legal and Logistics Departments can issue, upon request, the entry visa letters for those registered to the conference. Who requires a visa? Visas are NOT required for passports of any of the following countries, regardless of purpose and/or length of stay in Spain: If your intended stay in Spain will exceed 90 days, registration with the local police authorities is no longer required. Passports of all these countries (including UK passports) are valid to visit or stay in SPAIN up to the last day of their validity. Minors included in the parent’s passport must be accompanied by the parent. The child’s right to travel on the passport will lapse depending on the age stipulated by the issuing country. If you hold a valid residence permit in any of the Schengen member states, you are entitled to re-enter the Schengen area without a visa on production of your proof of residence and your passport. This information applies only to ordinary passports. All other nationalities, not listed above need a visa and the requirements for these vary according to nationality, passport or Travel Document used, purpose and duration of the trip. Forms for entry visa: Money The currency is the Euro. Most banks and bank machines accept most international credit cards. Weather The temperatures are pleasant averaging 21°C/70 F during the daytime to 12°C/54 F at night. Electricity Electricity supply is 220 volts throughout Spain with 2 pin wall sockets. For any European countries that utilise 240 volts e.g. UK and Ireland most electrical equipment will function adequately. Water Supply Barcelona drinking water is very unpalatable and it is highly recommended to drink bottled water whilst you are here. Although you can drink tap water safely it is much preferred to have bottled water. Personal Identification It is required by Spanish law that photographic identification be carried with you at all times. This may be a passport, driving license or national identity card. With a tightening of security in the city it is highly recommended that you carry round with you at least a photocopy of your passport should you be asked for this.
