T1. Theme: Why and How do we Intelligently Combine IoT and non-IoT?

Today we live our everyday lives in a noisy and beauty of digital and non digital things. If we look at our next generation, the so-called Z generation with its digital and savvy use of technology we have to understand how we make use of our combined knowledge and needs for the future. How do we combine a combinatorial space of cognitive abilities with technical and shared needs, and how do we design for comprehension of IoT, people and individuality in a more universal space/system?

We start off with the 5 basic senses:

• Gaze
• Hearing
• Smell
• Tactile/Haptic
• Taste
  

We have the brain with different centers/volumes:
We have the IoT:s
We have the non IoT:s
This workshop will gather ‘thinkers’ who wants to draw up some lines or a matrix for how we can combine cognitive abilities with certain IoT actions and present this for the rest of the group.

Let us see what we can do together in a few hours so bring computer, pen and paper so we can get ‘smart’ together ! You can of course already start off on beforehand and quickly present your own matrix in how you think we could combine all or parts in a best way.

T2. Theme: Ethics in Artificial Intelligence: State of the Art and Perspectives

Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly an important topic either for industrial research nor academic researchers since AI addresses critical domains such as justice, e-health, self-driving car, etc.

The aim of this tutorial is to raise some fundamental questions about ethics in AI, which are inspired from philosophy. Then, a state-of-the-art of current works done by researchers in AI will be presented. Global initiatives concerning ethics in AI will be also discussed.

T3. Theme: Adaptive Systems - Human and Artificial Intelligence as Team Players
Tutorial Speaker:  Prof. Dr. Sébastien Tremblay, University Laval, Canada

In the digital and intelligence era, one challenge is to integrate in a efficient, seamless and adaptive manner technological systems and human factors. Despite several concerns related to its evolution, artificial intelligence can make an unprecedented improvement to system performance and to the quality of life – in mobility, security, medicine and entertainment. One challenge is to develop adaptive systems that rely on artificial intelligence and human intelligence to work together as team players. A promising avenue and a key requirement for such systems is to base adaptiveness on the near real-time monitoring of the human operator – cognitive and affective – functional state. There is a great deal of research on finding which combination of behavioral, ocular and physiological measures are most specific and sensitive to fluctuations in stress, workload, fatigue, engagement, learning rate, sensemaking and other psychological dimensions and processes. A series of R&D projects and use cases will be presented and discussed.
